San Sebastian shoots for the remaining Final Four berth when it tangles with dangerous St. Benilde in the 89th NCAA basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Game time is at 4 p.m. with the Stags, running fourth with a 10-7 record, expected to go all-out to complete the semifinal cast and shut the door on Emilio Aguinaldo College’s bid to crash the Final Four for the first time.
But the Blazers are also determined to close out a season littered with heartbreak on a positive note.
St. Benilde, which could have easily reached the Final Four if not for a string of close losses in the first round, would love nothing more than to play spoiler to the Stags’ bid to reach the next round. The Blazers are also hoping to end a six-game slide.
“It’s going to be tough against St. Benilde, but the players understand that this is their chance and they want to make the most out of it,” said San Sebastian coach Topex Robinson.
A loss by the Stags and a victory by the Generals on Saturday against the Mapua Cardinals will set up a playoff for the last Final Four spot.
