MANILA, Philippines – Philippines clobbered Hong Kong 87-57 Sunday to get its campaign rolling in the 2013 Fiba Asia Championship for Women in Bangkok, Thailand.
Analyn Almazan unleashed 22 points, seven rebounds and an assist in 24 minutes of action for Discovery Perlas ng Pilipinas, which pulled away late in the second quarter and never looked back.
Philippines belongs to the Level II of the competition.
The top two finishers among the Level II teams are assured of playoff games against the teams that finish fifth and sixth in Level I.
Merenciana Arayi and Fria Bernardo added 14 and 11 points, respectively, for the Filipinos, who face Uzbekistan on Monday.
