Very little has been known about Darwin Cordero, but those who have seen him play so far believe that he has what it takes to make it to the PBA.
RR Garcia, a former UAAP Most Valuable Player from Far Eastern University, and San Mig guard Mark Barroca were both impressed by the playmaker from Zamboanga, with both saying he is ready for the pros.
“I looked up to him when I was in high school and he was in college,” Garcia said, adding that he was impressed with Cordero’s leaping ability and shooting skills.
“He plays both guard positions and he plays smart,” said Barroca. “He’s a very exciting player.”
The PBA Draft gets going Nov. 3 with Barangay Ginebra picking No. 1 overall. The Kings are expected to use that right on Greg Slaughter, the former Ateneo and national team standout.
Ian Sanggalang is expected to go at No. 2 via Governors Cup champion San Mig Coffee while Rain or Shine is expected to make Letran’s Raymund Almazan the third pick overall.
