Defending champion Hope Christian High School and UAAP juniors rulers National University lead the 2nd Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship (PSSBC) that opens Nov. 16 at Filoil Flying V Arena.

Hope Christian team manager Bernard Yang acknowledges that the field this year is much tougher but he remains upbeat about their chances, having won the recent Fr. Martin’s Cup.

“Besides, some of our star players are graduating next year so they want to leave a legacy to the school,” said Yang.

Rudy Yu of Dickies Underwear, one of the chief backers of the tournament, expects another action-packed event: “Some of the teams have improved since last year.”
