Unbeaten Pacers rout Cavaliers
INDIANAPOLIS — Paul George scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Lance Stephenson netted a game-high 22 points to power the Indiana Pacers over Cleveland 89-74 in an NBA game Saturday.
The Pacers improved to 3-0 on the season, matching the Philadelphia 76ers for the best record in the NBA after the 76ers beat Chicago 107-104 on Saturday, while the Cavaliers slumped to 1-2 in the five-day-old campaign.
Article continues after this advertisementIt’s the second 3-0 start in three seasons for Indiana, which has won seven times in a row when facing Cleveland and taken 13 of the past 14 meetings with the Cavaliers.
Dion Waiters led Cleveland with 17 points while Kyrie Irving scored 15 and Brazilian big man Anderson Varejao added 14.
The Pacers defeated Orlando on Tuesday on the opening night of the NBA season and then rallied in the second half for a 95-90 triumph at New Orleans on Wednesday.
