The eight-member schools have complete participation in only five events — men’s and women’s basketball, indoor volleyball, beach volley, badminton and chess — in the seniors’ division.
So the league is making its goal to have all schools join in all of the events being offered by the UAAP while deferring action on proposals to include golf and gymnastics.
“It’s the UAAP’s objective to see all of its member-schools fielding teams in the men’s and women’s and juniors’ divisions of the 15 sports on the program,” said UAAP Season 76 President Fr. Max Rendon in a statement.
Only University of Santo Tomas, La Salle, Ateneo and University of the Philippines have teams in all events and therefore, have a better chance for the general championship honors.
The Green Archers are leading the race after the end of the first semester in season 76.
Far Eastern University doesn’t have a team in the men’s and women’s swimming, judo, poomsae, men’s and women’s fencing, women’s football, lawn tennis, softball, and baseball.
Adamson, meanwhile, hasn’t formed a squad for the men’s swim team, men’s and women’s taekwondo, football, and lawn tennis.
NU has yet to take part in swimming (men’s and women’s) judo (men and women), football (women), fencing (women) and athletics (men and women).
University of the East doesn’t have teams in poomsae, women’s football and lawn tennis.
