Ex-Asiad gold medalist shines

FORMER World Masters and Asian Games gold medalist Biboy Rivera of TBAM/Prima/RP compiled a remarkable 1,545 total last Friday to assume the Class O men’s all-events lead in the 42nd Philippine International Open tenpin bowling championships at Sta. Lucia Mall in Cainta, Rizal.

Rivera rolled a 639 series in singles, 449 in doubles and 457 in trios to move ahead of TBAM/Prima’s Jeff Chan (1,521) and Chester King (1,478).

Sharing the limelight with Rivera were TBAM/Prima’s Mitch Espinosa, newcomer Noelle Campos and youthful Joshua Autida.

Espinosa carded 1,288 (660-628) to overtake SLETBA’s Pabs Penalba (1,273) in the men’s Graded Masters eliminations. Campos rolled 895 to dislodge MTBA’s Rowena Cabas (890) in the ladies’ Rookie Masters eliminations. Autida assumed the Class A men’s all-events lead with 1,431, dropping teammate Espinosa to second with 1,414.
