STI-Cagayan dribblers top Champs League NM elims

STI-CAGAYAN de Oro topped the Northern Mindanao eliminations to clinch a Sweet 16 berth in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) recently.

STI advanced after two seasons with wins over St. Columbian College, St. Paul University of Surigao, Christ the King College de Maranding, Bukidnon State University, Mindanao State University-Marawi and Medical Center.

Disputing the remaining Mindanao slot are Agro-Industrial Foundation College, Jose Maria College, Holy Trinity College of General Santos and Southern City College of Zamboanga in the Southern Mindanao eliminations.

The two Mindanao winners will join four top-ranked teams from the Visayas in the stepladder Sweet 16 of the Southern division from Nov. 19 to 21 at Ormoc City Superdome.

Champion squads from Bohol, Bacolod, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Tacloban and Ormoc will dispute the last Visayas slot from Nov. 15 to 18. Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) champion University of Visayas and runners-up Southwestern University and University of San Carlos earlier earned outright slots.

Waiting in the round-robin Final Four are UAAP champion La Salle and either San Beda or Letran, which are disputing the NCAA title.
