1st Shakey’s All Star spike fest to raise relief funds

THE FIRST Shakey’s All Star Weekend  kicking off Saturday will serve as a fund-raiser for victims of Supertyphoon “Yolanda”.

The gathering of some of the league’s biggest stars will also be an occasion to help the victims of the disaster that swept through parts of Central Visayas last Friday.

The sponsoring Shakey’s and organizing Sports Vision have already allocated considerable amount to benefit the victims.

“Shakey’s and Sports Vision are one in sympathizing with the victims of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” and we’re doing our share to help raise some funds for them through the All Star,” said Sports Vision president Ricky Palou.

The Shakey’s All Star, powered by Smart, serves as a highlight of a milestone 10th season of the country’s premier women’s volleyball league.

Among the players expected in the All Star game are Mary Jean Balse, Michelle Carolino, Rachel Ann Daquis, Aiza Maizo, Suzanne Roces and Angeli Tabaquero who will spearhead Team Shakey’s.

Also part of Team Shakey’s are Angelique Dionela, Rubie de Leon, Maureen Penetrante-Ouano and Tina Salak with Nestor Pamilar as coach.

Roger Gorayeb, on the other hand, will steer the Smart team to be led by Dindin Santiago and Jovelyn Gonzaga, who bagged the MVP honors in this year’s conference.

Maru Banaticla, Jamenea Ferrer, Jennelyn Reyes, Gretchel Soltones, Fille Cainglet and Pau Soriano will also be part of the Smart squad which boasts of two of the league’s most popular players in Alyssa Valdez and Charo Soriano.
