Macau weather won’t affect Pacquiao

THE SUDDEN change in weather won’t affect Manny Pacquiao when he arrives in Macau from Gen. Santos City this Monday.

Though it’s hot in GenSan, where he held training camp for his Nov.  24 showdown with Brandon Rios, Team Pacquiao has made sure that the Fighter of the Decade will feel at ease with the cold Macau weather.

Whenever Pacquiao trains or spars at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, the air-conditioning units are adjusted to approximate the prevailing temperature in the gambling haven which will stage “The Clash in Cotai.”

Temperature in GenSan was projected at a high of 30 degrees Celsius, which was actually warmer due to the humidity, and a low of 22 degrees Celsius yesterday.

But when Team Pacquiao and supporters leave on a 100-seater private jet at 3 p.m.  Monday, temperature will soar to 36 degrees Celsius.  The evening  temperature in Macau plunges to 20 degrees.

On fight day at The Venetian Macao, temperature will hover at a high of 22 and a low of 15 degrees Celsius.

Tapering off in his training, Pacquiao sparred for eight rounds with Briton light middleweight Liam Vaughan and local light welterweight Dan Nazareno Jr. yesterday, according to trusted aide Roger Fernandez.

Last Saturday, Pacquiao sparred for 12 rounds with Vaughan and Nazareno and pleased chief trainer Freddie Roach and Filipino assistants Buboy Fernandez and Nonoy Neri.

While Pacquiao is still in GenSan, Rios and his team left Los Angeles Monday night.

They are expected to arrive in Macau early today.  Roy A. Luarca
