Davao City aces rule jr netfest

JAFFARY Cariga and Rachel Patricia Velez bagged two crowns each in the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala regional age-group tournament held Monday at Tagum City Lawn Tennis Club in Davao del Norte.

Cariga, 15, bested Regan Sorima, 3-5, 4-2, 11-9, in the boys’ 18-and-Under finals before dominating No. 4 Jefferson Alqueza, 4-2, 4-2, for the 16-U plum.

Fellow Davao City bet Velez routed Jed Aquino, 4-1, 4-1, to clinch the girls’ 14-U title.

Velez, 14,  then disposed of unseeded Rosvel Binondo, 5-4(6), 5-4(1), in the 16-U finals of the Babolat-backed event.
