Pachanga, UIM booters barge into UFL q’finals
PACHANGA-Diliman and Union Internacional Manila scored contrasting victories Tuesday night to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2013 United Football League Cup at Emperador Stadium.
Keeping its composure, Pachanga survived Forza, 4-3, on penalties to reach the Last Eight, after UIM toppled General Trias International, 4-1.
Kim Versales stopped Elle Cagayanan’s weak spot kick to preserve the victory for Pachanga-Diliman, which failed to unlock a resilient Forza side after 120 minutes of action.
Article continues after this advertisementAnto Gonzales, Daniel Gadia, Nate Burkey and Jason Cutamora all scored for Pachanga in an enthralling shootout that saw Forza buckle under pressure with Arvin Gaspe also sending his effort to the post.
Martin Villaflor kept Forza in the game with 13 saves, including a couple of clear-cut chances by Ariel Zerrudo in the first half and a brilliant reaction stop on Reza Amirkhizan’s free kick in second half stoppage time.
