MANILA, Philippines — Boracay Rum bounced back from back-to-back losses after disposing of Banco De Oro-National University 73-63 Thursday in the 2013 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.
The Waves blew a 15-point lead late in the game, but fought off a near meltdown with Far Eastern University’s Mac Belo and Adamson’s Roider Cabrera nailing timely buckets.
Bel just missed three of his 12 attempts and finished with 20 points to lead Boracay Rum along with Chris Banchero, who also dished seven assists and had three steals.
The Waves improved to 2-2 after frustrating defeats against Blackwater Sports and Café France last week.
The Bulldogs’ backed-BDO, meanwhile, picked up their third loss in as many games and were hardly impressive in their maiden stint in the league.
Former UAAP MVP Bobby Ray Parks Jr. was the lone double-digit scorer for Banco de Oro, who pulled within the closest of 55-59, with 11 points.
