PH Azkals settle for draw against India
MANILA, Philippines—Philippine men’s football team settled for a 1-1 draw against India Friday night in a friendly match in Chennai.
Phil Younghusband struck the equalizer for the Philippine Azkals in the 43rd, just a minute after Sunnil Chettri opened the scoring for India.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Azkals, who had Stephan Schrock in tow, had several chances in the second half, some courtesy of the Fil-German midfielder, but the Filipinos couldn’t snatch the win.
A moment of silence was held in memory of the victims of Typhoon “Yolanda” before kick off.
The stalemate came days after the Azkals absorbed a 0-4 beating in the hands of a quality United Arab Emirates side, ranked 71st in the world.
