MANILA, Philippines—Philippine men’s football team settled for a 1-1 draw against India Friday night in a friendly match in Chennai.
Phil Younghusband struck the equalizer for the Philippine Azkals in the 43rd, just a minute after Sunnil Chettri opened the scoring for India.
The Azkals, who had Stephan Schrock in tow, had several chances in the second half, some courtesy of the Fil-German midfielder, but the Filipinos couldn’t snatch the win.
A moment of silence was held in memory of the victims of Typhoon “Yolanda” before kick off.
The stalemate came days after the Azkals absorbed a 0-4 beating in the hands of a quality United Arab Emirates side, ranked 71st in the world.
