Lady Altas off to a strong start in NCAA volleyball
MANILA, Philippines – Reigning champion Perpetual Help picked up where it left off with a dominant 25-14, 25-11, 25-13 win over Mapua at the start of the NCAA volleyball tournament Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Altas drew contributions from their veterans Norie Diaz and Honey Royse Tubino to kick off their bid for a third consecutive crown on the right note.
“I think we can maintain the championship with the materials that I have,” said Perpetual coach Sammy Acaylar.
Article continues after this advertisementDiaz, the reigning MVP, scored 14 points and had seven digs while the power-spiking Tubino had 11 hits.
Shaira Cabriana, also one of the team’s veterans, chipped in 10 points on six service aces and delivered 21 excellent sets.
