Southwestern University clinched the third semifinal berth in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) after stunning Cebu king University of Visayas on Wednesday night at Cebu Coliseum.
Monbert Arong took charge in the final quarter as the Cobras downed the Green Lancers, 68-60, to rule the Southern Islands division and advance to the round-robin Final Four of the nationwide tournament.
Arong dropped 10 of his 25 points in the fourth period to help the Cobras hold off the Green Lancers’ late surge.
UAAP champion La Salle and four-time NCAA titlist San Beda have earlier been seeded to the Final Four, leaving teams from the Luzon-Metro Manila division to fight for the last slot.
