TMS-PHILIPPINE Army hopes to bounce back from a recent shock loss when it faces winless Petron in the women’s division even as Giligan’s Restaurant guns for a third win in men’s action today in the Philippine Super Liga volleyball Grand Prix at Ynares Arena.
Nursing a bruised ego after its 25-13, 25-20, 25-22 defeat to PLDT last Wednesday, Army is expected to bear down on struggling Petron in the 4 p.m. match and improve to 3-1.
Cignal seeks a second victory against another winless squad in RC Cola at 2 p.m., in the first of the two women’s matches.
Giligan’s tries to pull away from the four-team field with a third straight win against Systema Tooth and Gum Care in the 6 p.m. nightcap. But Systema won’t be a pushover as shown by its gutsy 25-21, 24-26, 17-25, 25-17, 15-7, triumph over Maybank late Wednesday.
Coach Rico de Guzman of Army vowed to recover after his wards were rendered practically helpless by the rampaging PLDT tossers.
“We are an experienced team and we know how to make the necessary adjustments,” said De Guzman of the Lady Troopers.
The Lady Troopers will bank on a strong roster led by Michelle Carolino, Mary Jean Balse, Rachel Ann Daquis and imports Yuki Murakoshi of Japan and Luangtonglang Wanitchaya of Thailand. Marc Anthony Reyes
