Lakers donate $150,000 to PH Red Cross for ‘Yolanda’ victims
MANILA, Philippines — The Los Angeles Lakers made a $150,000 donation to the Philippine Red Cross to aid in the continuous typhoon relief efforts in the country.
The Lakers’ star guard Kobe Bryant, still recovering from an Achilles tendon injury, presented the donation check on Saturday (Manila time) after the first quarter of their home game against Memphis Grizzlies.

The Lakers also said they would turn over the proceeds from their Lakers Youth Foundation In-Arena auctions, held at their home games from November 12-14, to the PH Red Cross.
Earlier this week, the NBA and NBPA, the Miami Heat and Carnival Corp. likewise made generous donations to various organizations for the victims of the destructive typhoon “Yolanda.”
