Xavier slips past SSC in PSSBC

TYLER Tio knocked down two pressure-packed charities in the dying seconds to help power Xavier to an 83-81 double overtime win over San Sebastian in the 2nd Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship Thursday at CKSC gym.

After being held scoreless in the first two quarters, Tio suddenly waxed hot, exploding for 18 points, including the game-changing free throws that enabled the Stallions to notch their first win in two games in Group A.

Tio’s output was matched by teammate Jarrell Lim, who also had 13 rebounds and five steals, while Anton Lopez and Chang Gi Hong combined for 24 markers as the Stallions boosted their bid to make it to the crossover quarterfinals in the tournament sponsored by Welcoat Paints, Dickies Underwear, Hapee, Jumbo Plastic, Wrangler, MEC Computer, Ironcon Builders, Ever Bilena, Davies Paint and Spray & Seal Tire Sealant.
