China’s Zou Shiming improves to 3-0 in Pacquiao-Rios undercard
Two-time Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming outclassed Mexican Juan “Pollo” Toscano in the undercard of the Pacquiao-Rios main event Sunday at the CotaiArena at The Venetian in Macau, China.
Zou (3-0, 0), who sparred for a few rounds with Manny Pacquiao, overwhelmed Toscano (4-1, 1 KO) getting the nod of the three judges who scored it, 60-54, 60-54 and 60-52, in a six-round bout in the flyweight division.
The 32-year-old Zou, who also trains under Freddie Roach, found the openings early and never held back on his combinations as Toscano’s face was left bloodied after getting a cut below his right eye.
Article continues after this advertisementEarlier, Puerto Rican Felix Verdejo (9-0, 6 KOs), a star in the making, pummeled Thailand’s Petchsamuthr Duanaaymukdahan (8-1, 1KO)to a unanimous decision in their lightweight fight.
Verdejo got identical 60-53 scores from the three judges.
