DLS-Zobel, 3 others stay alive in PSC baseball
DE LA SALLE-Zobel leaned on a big second inning and the steady pitching of Gino Tantuico to down Throwback, 7-3, even as three other clubs prevailed to stay in the running in the PSC Chairman’s Baseball Classic yesterday at Rizal Memorial Ballpark.
Tantuico fanned five and allowed just two hits in a no-relief job as Zobel recovered from an earlier Ateneo loss, 14-11, in the double round knockout elimination.
Titans started with a four-run first inning to crush Bulacan Agricultural State College, 9-4, and Philippine Air Force demolished Dragons, 10-0.
In another game Saturday, University of Santo Tomas also booted out Bulacan State University, 15-2, to likewise stay in the hunt.
Zobel produced seven hits and picked up five runs in the second inning to take a 5-2 lead before adding two more in the third.
Titans also scored a run in the second and four more from the fourth to sixth frames.
The tournament is a double-round elimination and will end Dec. 22.
