UEFA sends message to ‘Yolanda’ survivors
MANILA, Philippines— Survivors of supertyphoon ‘‘Yolanda’’ just got a massive kick of support, this time from the governing body of European football.
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) laid down banners with the message “Hindi kayo nag-iisa, Pilipinas” during the teams’ procession from the dugouts.
Article continues after this advertisement“The entire European football family will stand united on the pitch this week before our matches, in order to express our deepest sympathy and full support to the Philippines,” said UEFA President Michel Platini in the UEFA website. “We wish them continued strength in tackling the subsequent problems following the tragedy.”
UEFA presented the banners in all 16 matches of match day 5 of the Champions League pitting the top clubs from European top-flight leagues.
