PCCL: Belo, Iñigo step up for the Tamaraws in win over Stags

MANILA, Philippines—Far Eastern University hardly looked like it was missing its two best players as the Tamaraws defeated San Sebastian, 83-73, to continue their 2013 Philippine Collegiate Champions League campaign.

The Tamaraws didn’t have their star guards Terrence Romeo and RR Garcia, who both have moved on to the pros, but had others to carry the cudgels.

“It’s a different team but everything’s positive on our side,” said head coach Nash Racela.

Mark Belo stepped up for FEU in the post-Romeo/Garcia era, delivering 19 points and 14 boards while sophomore guard Achie Iñigo connected on four triples for a 14-point showing.

Big man Anthony Hargrove also turned in 14 markers and 15 points, while Mike Tolomia contributed 11 points, six rebounds and eight dimes.

The Tamaraws face earlier’s winner National University on Monday with a chance to continue their bid in the PCCL sweet 16, and into the final four.

The Stags drew 20 points from CJ Perez, but it wasn’t enough to propel them further in the competition.
