PLDT tossers nail win No. 4
PLDT MyDSL kept its record squeaky clean yesterday but its latest victory left coach Roger Goyayeb worried over his wards’ killer instinct.
While everybody was expecting a straight-sets win over league cellar-dweller RC Cola, PLDT encountered rough patches before scoring a 25-13, 24-26, 25-18, 25-20 win in the Philippine Super Liga volleyball Grand Prix at Ynares Arena in Pasig.

But the Speed Boosters found themselves yielding the second set in the face of the Raiders’ surprisingly gritty stand.
Later, TMS Philippine Army cruised to 25-5, 25-18, 25-20 win over Cignal to notch its fourth win in five games.
The Lady Troopers fired on all cylinders to deal the HD Spikers a league-worst score in a set with five points in the second frame.

“I told them that the imports are here to help us win games, and not to depend on them completely,” said Gorayeb. “We have four locals but it looks like the imports are the only ones playing.”
With the exception of Sue Roces, the rest of the Speed Boosters leaned on the Americans to take the scoring load. Manns scored 16 points aside from laying down the attack plan. She made 40 successful tosses, 29 more than the output of Renalyn Agero.
Savannah Noyes used her ceiling to fire 22 points, 17 on spikes, while Roces accounted for 14 points.
Sontaya Kaewbundit unloaded 17 points, while Zhang Minghua added 10 for RC Cola.
