MANILA, Philippines—Danny Seigle is set to suit up for Talk N’ Text next week, but head coach Norman Black remained on the fence as to whose place the seasoned center will take.

“We’re not sure who we’re going to bring down to the reserve list at this point,” Black admitted.

But Black said that he was “pretty sure” that the 37-year-old Seigle, who they plucked from free agency, will be on the Texters active roster come Tuesday against Globalport.

“He’s fit, he looks like he’s in pretty good shape. We’re going to use the next three days of practice to try and get him educated on offense and defense so he has a chance to contribute,” Black said.

Fit and healthy — that’s largely why Black and the Texters are bringing in the veteran as they struggle anew with wear and tear among the players, some of whom also moonlight for the national team.

“We brought him in because we have problems with injuries, some of our players are playing injured and we just have to get a little more depth,” Black said.

“Add the fact that after this conference most of the players will be going to SMART Gilas team again and we can use as much as depth as we can get because I’m going to lose guys.”

Health will be the biggest factor in choosing who will be relegated to the injured/reserved list as a league rule limits a team to five Fil-foreigners.

“I have guys playing hurt, gutting it out, so we’ll just decide who’s healthy and who’s not and will decide based on that,” Black said.
