First Blood: Mainer pits Farenas vs Rios
Another crack at a world title awaits Michael Farenas if he gets past Mexican Jesus Rios in the headliner of First Blood, the inaugural offering of MAG Pacman International Promotions, on Dec. 13 at Solaire Resort and Casino in Pasay City.
Farenas, who has challenged for the world title twice but came up short both times, is being lined up for a duel with WBO super featherweight king Mikey Garcia on Feb. 22.
That is, if Farenas (34 wins, 4 losses, 4 draws with 28 knockouts) beats Rios (26-4-1, 20 KOs).
Article continues after this advertisementPower puncher Dodie Boy Peñalosa Jr. (11-0, 11 KOs) tangles with Mexican Alem Robles (6-3-2, 2 KOs) at 122 pounds in the chief support of the 11-bout card. Richard Pumicpic (13-5-2, 4 KOs) battles Mexican Luis Lugo (15-4-2, 11 KOs) at 122 lb.
Farenas, Peñalosa and Pumicpic were introduced in a press conference by MAG Pacman initiators Anson Tiu-Co and former two-division world champion Gerry Peñalosa yesterday.
Co said ticket sales will be donated to the victims of Supertyphoon “Yolanda.” First Blood is being supported by Toby’s, San Miguel Corp., Viktor, Siscor, Family Rubbing Alcohol and Solaire.
