Leyte’s Global completes PFF-Smart clubs finals cast

Global leaned on an Angel Guirado hat-trick to rout Cebu Queen City United, 6-2, Wednesday and clinch the last spot in the final round of the PFF-Smart National Club Championship at Cebu City Sports Center.

Mark Hartmann also scored twice after Izzo El Habbib opened the scoring for Global, the Leyte Football Association representative, which became the 10th team to reach the finals slated Dec. 9 to 21 at Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.

Already clinching seats in the finals are Ceres FC of Negros Occidental and representatives of Benguet, Camarines Sur, Bukidnon Football Association, Davao, Zamboanga, Cavite  and Palawan.

The 10 teams will be divided into two groups that will be drawn Sunday night during the team managers’ meeting.

El Habbib netted Global’s first in the 28th minute with a close range shot before Hartmann added a second with a well taken free kick right before halftime.

Guirado and Hartmann scored in quick succession for Global in the 67th and 69th minute respectively with both goals from a counterattack. Guirado completed his hat-trick in stoppage time.  Cedelf P. Tupas
