This year’s varsity kings aim to deliver more than just a show tomorrow.
UAAP champion La Salle and four-time NCAA titlist San Beda will collide in a charity game billed as “Champions for a Cause,” to raise funds for the victims of Supertyphoon “Yolanda.”
The alumni association of both teams will also match every basket in the three-point shootout side event with a P5,000 donation.
Game starts at noon at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“It isn’t just about basketball but also calling attention to the victims of Yolanda,” said La Salle coach Juno Sauler.
UAAP Finals MVP Jeron Teng, Jason Perkins, Arnold Van Opstal and Almond Vosotros banner the Green Archers’ bid, while Ola Adeogun, Baser Amer, Rome dela Rosa and Finals MVP Art dela Cruz lead the Red Lions.
“Even if it’s a charity game, expect both schools to go all out,” said Lions mentor Boyet Fernandez. “So you can say that we will play San Beda basketball while they will play their A-game.”
The shootout will pit Teng, Vosotros and former La Salle ace Renren Ritualo against former San Beda star Borgie Hermida, Amer and Fernandez.
