UAAP: La Salle overpowers UST in women’s volleyball
MANILA, Philippines — Defending champion De La Salle stamped its class as it fashioned out a 25-8, 27-25, 25-13 win over University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP Season 76 women’s volleyball tournament Saturday at the Arena in San Juan.
Abi Marano scored 14 points, four each off blocks and service aces, while Cyd Demecillo fired 12 hits for the Lady Spikers, who improved to 2-0.
Carmela Tunay paced an erratic UST side with 10 points. The Tigresses dropped to 1-1.
La Salle zoomed to an 8-1 lead in the third set and never looked back as it padded on to its advantage, 23-8, on a score by Kim Fajardo, who also dished out 26 excellent sets.
