MANILA, Philippines — Wushu continued to be the Philippines’ source of gold so far in the 27th Southeast Asian Games.
After sanda fighters Jessie Aligaga and Dembert Arcita garnered the country’s first two gold medals, Daniel Parantac added a third with 19.38 points beating out host Myanmar (19.33) and Singapore (19.30).
Kariza Kris Chan and Natasha Enriquez added two bronze medals in Wushu Women’s Duilian while Hemi Macaranas also added a bronze in Canoeing Men’s C1 1000m event after clocking four minutes and 30.78 seconds.
As of posting, the Philippines remained in sixth place in the biennial meet’s medal tally with three golds, five silvers and three bronze medals behind leader Myanmar (17-6-7), Vietnam (7-4-7), Indonesia (5-8-7), Thailand (4-7-4) and Malaysia (3-5-12).
