HOG’S Breath Cafe rolled to a seventh straight victory with an 86-72 drubbing of Derulo Accelero in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup yesterday at Blue Eagle Gym.
Philip Paniamogan pumped in 24 points and Kevin Racal added 20 as the unbeaten Razorbacks sustained their surprisingly strong run to keep the solo lead.
“We shot poorly in the first quarter because we had a last-minute change in our starting five,” said coach Caloy Garcia after his Razorbacks shot only nine in the first quarter before building a 34-22 halftime advantage.
“The good thing about our players is that they never lost their focus on defense.”
Big Chill also kept solo second at 7-1 after turning back a pesky Arellano-Air 21 side, 70-63, in the first game.
Reil Cervantes led the Superchargers with 20 points and Janus Lozada contributed 18, including a key triple in the last 18 seconds.
“I thought we did a good job closing out the game,” said Big Chill coach Robert Sison.
Brian Heruela, a burly guard from Cebu, fell just a rebound-shy of a triple-double with 13 points, 10 assists and nine boards for the Superchargers.
The Chiefs absorbed their seventh setback in eight games while the Oilers dropped to 1-8.
