SEA Games: Vietnam boots out Malditas
MANDALAY—The Philippines saw its semifinal hopes in the women’s football tournament of the 27th Southeast Asian Games vanish in devastating fashion.
Showing its class and quality, reigning champion Vietnam scored a 7-0 rout of the Philippine Malditas Friday night at Mandalar Thiri Stadium here.
The Malditas’ second straight loss booted out the team whose participation here came under heavy scrutiny before it was finally approved.
Malditas coach Ernie Nierras had talked highly of his team’s chances before the start of the tournament, saying that the lineup was the best he has ever fielded for an international tournament.
