SEA Games: PH bet Gabuco delivers gold in women’s boxing

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino boxing bet Josie Gabuco gave the country its fourth gold medal after ruling the women’s light flyweight division in the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar, according to the SEA Games official website.

Gabuco scored a majority decision win over Beatrix Suguro of Indonesia, 40-36, 40-36, 38-38, for the Philippines’ first gold medal outside of wushu in the biennial meet held in Myanmar.

Nesthy Petecio, on the other hand, fell to hometown fighter Nwe Ni Oo, 37-39, 37-39, 38-38, and settled for the silver finish in the featherweight category.
