‘Snow’ nearly falls in Petron victory party

/ 09:37 PM August 27, 2011

With the Friday night incident splashed all over the internet moments after it happened, members of the media gathered at a Chinese seafood restaurant in Greenhills for a dinner hosted by the returning Barako Bull team, eagerly awaiting the arrival of NBN 4’s Snow Badua, the man of the hour.
Everybody wanted to hear the account straight from the horse’s mouth.
I, for one, wanted to know if it was true that he was almost beaten up by San Miguel’s Noli Eala and “his two cohorts”—Rico Meneses and Joey Bautista—had he not managed to make a mad dash toward his crew who immediately pointed the camera at the scene of the conflict.
“They were able to take a video of the action which I may need to present later,” said Snow, who has been engaged in an ongoing word war on twitter with Eala, which obviously came to a head Friday night during the Petron Blaze victory party at the San Miguel compound in Pasig where Snow was invited.

Snow was toting a thick sheaf of documents when he arrived at the Barako Bull dinner. He said he was not able to report for work that day because he had to go to the San Miguel offices to personally deliver his letter of complaint against Noli Eala to Mr. Ramon Ang, president of the giant conglomerate.
“Noli tightly squeezed my hand as he dragged me towards the backstage where his gang was waiting. He shouted all manners of profanity at me and I retaliated.
“I only noticed that Rico Meneses had joined the fray when he pushed me hard and I almost lost my balance.
“They accused me of being thick-faced, coming to the SMC party, eating their food and drinking their beer when I was earlier already warned not to show my face there,” he said.
The only happy ending to this incident is that Snow, who had just been discharged from a two-week confinement at the National Kidney Institute escaped the hostilities unscathed.
He has given copies of the complaint letter to the KBP and the PSA, now headed by newly elected president Rey Bancod of Tempo.

Michael and Paul Chua, the two good-looking and hunky sons of Barako Bull’s George Chua, will be getting involved in running the team starting this season.
Michael, who will be in charge of basketball operations, is the eldest, while Paul, who is Michael’s assistant, is the youngest.
Team manager Raffy Casyao, who played the perfect host last Saturday night, introduced newly re-appointed head coach Junel Baculi and his assistant Bong Ramos.
Raffy said they hope to bring back the multi-titled team’s winning tradition.
Junel, on the other hand, is optimistic that with the addition of good draft picks to the present lineup inherited from Air 21, they could aspire for a semifinal berth in the first conference of the season.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum will be flying in from the United States for the first leg of the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez Trilogy World Press Tour that will be held at the Quirino Grandstand in the afternoon of Sept. 3.
Top singing trio from Mexico Le Diva will give its own rendition of the Philippine National Anthem while the Philippines’ UST Chorale will sing the Mexican national anthem. Entertainment will be provided by celebrities from GMA, the free TV partner of Solar Entertainment which is organizing the event.
Marquez, will proceed to The Block at SM North Edsa in Quezon City later to watch the World Pool Masters match between Django Bustamante and Jason Klatt of Canada.
