Lady Falcons rout Tigresses in UAAP volleyball

MANILA, Philippines — Adamson steamrolled past University of Santo Tomas, 25-21, 25-18, 25-18, Wednesday in the UAAP season 76 women’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Falcons took advantage of the error-filled showing of the Golden Tigresses and flashes their full potential with Sheila Pineda, Amanda Villanueva and Mayette Zapanta leading the way.

Adamson only had 13 errors while being gifted 28 points off miscues by UST. They’re tied at 2-2 as the league goes into its holiday break.

“I wasn’t expecting we would win in straight sets because they have a complete line-up, but we had a good game, we had less errors and our players played double-time,” said head coach Sherwin Meneses.

The Lady Falcons are coming off a straight set defeat to Ateneo last Saturday.

“That was really disappointing loss. We had a bad game, so we just talk about what went wrong and we tried to fix it today,” also said Meneses.

Pineda led the Lady Falcons with 13 points, including  three service aces. Villanueva added 11 points with three blocks while Zapanta had 10.

Adamson didn’t give UST any space for a comeback and built a comfortable in the pivotal third set before Pineda scored the last two to seal the win.

Pam Lastimosa had 12 points for the Golden Tigresses, who surprisingly couldn’t match up with the Lady Falcons. Rookie Ria Meneses added eight.
