Powerhouse Global and defending champion Ceres-University of St. La Salle Bacolod shut out their respective rivals yesterday to forge a title duel for the Philippine Football Federation-Smart National Club Championship starting today at Panaad pitch in Bacolod City.
Global trounced Flame United Cherifer, 5-0, while defending champion Ceres banked on J Baguioro’s phenomenal six-goal binge to sweep Benguet State U, 11-0, in their home-and-away semifinal series.
Ceres, the Negros Occidental Football Association representative, also won Game One, 5-1, matching Global’s 4-0 conquest of Flame United Cherifer of Cavite FA.
The second game of the home-and-away title clash between Global, representing Leyte FA, and Ceres will be on Saturday with the winner bagging the top purse of P100,000.
