SEAOIL-DC star Gabriel Tayao Cabrera distinguished himself as the phenomenal karter for 2013 following his milestone feat of clinching three major crowns in the season climax of the 2013 Coca-cola Karting Super Series recently.
The youngest driver and a first-timer in the premier ROK class, Cabrera captured the Clubman Karter of the Year plum aside from bagging the overall ROK Junior and Formula SL Novice titles.
The hardworking 13-year-old, the lone driver to accumulate the highest number of points among all kart classes in the local series combined, posted a total of 30 podium wins from all the races he joined this season.
He was also hailed as Asian Karting Junior Prince after copping overall 1st runner-up in the Asian Karting Open Championships’ Formula 125 Junior class. He also placed overall 2nd runner-up in the Sorteo Grand Prix KF3 class.
“So many blessings came like Kosmic Japan which recruited me earlier this year,” said Cabrera. “Driving for them opened doors for several international stints and I am happy to leave local karting on a high note as I look forward to racing in new categories abroad in 2014.”
For the third time in a row, Cabrera will be honored at the Golden Wheel Awards, the nation’s highest award-giving body for motorsports come March 2014.
