UAAP: NU sweeps first round in boys and girls volleyball

MANILA, Philippines — National University rose from two sets down to beat defending champion La Salle-Zobel, 15-25, 23-25, 25-8, 25-22, 15-10, and complete a first round sweep in the UAAP Season 76 girls high school volleyball tournament at the UE Caloocan gym.

The Lady Bullpups stayed unbeaten after five games despite not having Jaja Santiago, who’s been strutting her stuff in the women’s division as part of the Lady Bulldogs.

NU also plowed through its competition in the boys division after besting reigning nine-time champion University of the East, 12-25, 25-21, 26-24, 26-24, to also pull off a first round sweep.

University of Santo Tomas finished second after the first round following a 25-14, 25-20, 25-14 victory over Adamson.
