In the Know: Pacquiao as target shooting enthusiast

/ 11:49 PM December 31, 2013

Manny Pacquiao has many hobbies outside the boxing ring and one of them is target shooting.

An episode of HBO’s 24/7 for the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley in 2012 featured Pacquiao doing some target shooting.

Likewise, an annual shootfest named after him is being held every year.

For 2013, the Manny Pacquiao Cup, a match sanctioned by the Philippine Practical Shooting Association, was held on Dec. 5-8 in the province of Saranggani where Pacquiao is a congressman.

In 2007, the boxing idol sought for exemption from the gun ban imposed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the run-up to the congressional and local elections that year.

Citing his multimillion-peso net worth and the need to protect himself and his family, Pacquiao filed 20 applications for exemption from the gun ban. The Comelec granted all of them.—Ana Roa, Inquirer Research
