MANILA, Philippines — Rumors that the megafight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been finally forged spread like wildfire, for the nth time, on Thursday.

But it’s no truer, and the fight no closer to materializing, than the last time the news caught fire on the internet.

“All stories you hear about Pacquiao is a lie,” Mayweather said in an interview with fighthype.com.

A news website, quoting an anonymous source, reported that the highly-anticipated match between Mayweather and Pacquiao is already a “done deal” slated in September.

But Mayweather vehemently denied striking any deal with Pacquiao’s camp.

“It’s a lie. It’s not true. If it didn’t come from Leonard’s mouth, my mouth or Al’s mouth, it’s not true,” the controversial American boxer also said.

The Filipino boxer’s contract with Bob Arum’s Top Rank, and Mayweather’s disdain for Arum, are one of the many stumbling blocks this fight has to hurdle before it becomes a reality.

“…I will never do business with Bob Arum again in life, and Pacquiao is Bob Arum’s fighter,” he said in separate interview with the website.
