The Lady Falcons, who hold the league record for most number of consecutive wins in any sport, fight for the solo lead with the dangerous Lady Bulldogs in a rematch of last year’s finals at 12 noon at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
Bannered by former MVPs Rizza Bernardino and Luzviminda Embudo, the Lady Falcons have not lost a game since Feb. 13, 2010 and have only given up a single run this season.
Both the Lady Falcons, the champions in eight of the last 10 seasons, and the Lady Bulldogs gun for a fourth straight win in today’s triple-header.
University of the Philippines shoots for a third triumph versus winless Ateneo in the first game at 8 a.m., while University of Santo Tomas vies for the same goal against struggling La Salle at 10 a.m.
In women’s volleyball, the Lady Eagles clash with the winless Lady Maroons at 2 p.m., while the Lady Bulldogs take on the Tigresses at 4 p.m. at Filoil Flying V Arena.
Both the Lady Eagles and the Lady Bulldogs sport 3-1 records behind the perfect 4-0 slate of the defending champion Lady Archers.
Ateneo star Alyssa Valdez, who leads the league in scoring with 77 points, powered the Lady Eagles to a dominant win over the Lady Warriors, 25-11, 25-15, 25-17, in their last outing in December.
The Lady Bulldogs also closed out their December run with a straight-sets victory over the Lady Tamaraws, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19, behind Dindin Santiago, who is running second behind Valdez in scoring with 66 points.
In the men’s side, defending champion National U tries to stay unbeaten in five games versus Ateneo at 10 a.m., right after struggling squads UE and La Salle tangle at 8:30 a.m.
