Adamson U extends softball winning streak to 38 games

MANILA, Philippines — Adamson continued to be a dominant force in softball as the Lady Falcons dumped the National University Lady Bulldogs, 12-2, in just four innings to stretch their incredible winning streak to 38 at the resumption of UAAP action Saturday at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

The Falcons quickly turned last year’s finals rematch into a rout with Annalie Benjamen and Angelie Ursubia blasting two-run homers to lead the defending champions to the solo top spot at 4-0.

Unbeaten since 2010, the Lady Falcons are riding on the longest winning run in any sport in the league.

The Lady Bulldogs, who scored a run each in the third and fourth innings, slipped to a share of second at 3-1 with University of Santo Tomas, which triumphed over La Salle, 11-3, in the other game.

Ateneo, though, stunned University of the Philippines, 5-4, to clinch its first win in five games while pinning on its victim a second loss in four outings.

The Lady Eagles made it a double victory over the Lady Maroons following a straight-set triumph, 25-20, 25-21, 25-13, in women’s volleyball  at Filoil Flying V Arena.

Alyssa Valdez pumped in 24 points, including 20 on attacks and three service aces, as the Lady Eagles improved to 4-1 to stay within striking distance of unbeaten leader La Salle (4-0).
