HOG’S Breath Cafe hopes to recall its brilliant start while Boracay Rum tries to pick up where it left off before the holiday break when they tangle today as the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup resumes at Arellano Gym.

The Razorbacks, who dropped back-to-back games after a surprise 7-0 streak, go for an eighth win against the Waves at 4 p.m.

Cellar-dwelling squads Air21-Arellano University and Banco de Oro-National University collide in the first encounter at 2 p.m.

Coach Lawrence Chongson, though, thinks his underrated Waves have found their groove behind top rookie pick Chris Banchero following a rough start to the tournament.

“We ended the year [2013] well, we gained momentum,” Chongson said of his Waves, who closed out their December run with consecutive victories to improve to 4-5.

“I think we’re at 70 percent now. We had a bad start, so we just have to try to win as many games as we can. There’s no other choice for us but to fight through adversities.”

The Razorbacks also hope to overcome their recent struggles that saw them go down to third after lording it over in the first half of the eliminations.

In their recent outings, the Razorbacks surprisingly got routed by a resurgent Cafe France just days after also getting dumped by the second-running Jumbo Plastic, 70-87.

The Razorbacks hope to make their running game work for them again behind an underrated cast led by Philip Paniamogan, Kevin Racal and Paul Sanga.

Meanwhile, the favored Bulldogs try to pick up their first win in seven games against the similarly skidding Chiefs, who hold a 1-8 card.
