Vicencio 10-under champ; other seeds prevail

NINE-YEAR-OLD Miguel Luis Vicencio easily topped the 10-under unisex division even as the other title favorites made it to the finals of their respective brackets yesterday in the 25th Andrada Cup age group championships at Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

The top-seeded Vicencio outclassed second seed Cesar Kristoffer Salimbangon, 6-1, 6-0.

Khim Iglupas sustained her bid for a sweep of the girls’ 18- and 16-under titles, Eric Jed Olivarez advanced to the boys’ 16-under finals while Jacob Martin and Arthur Craig Pantino set up a clash for the boys’ 14-under title.

Iglupas, 15, crushed Frances Santiago, 6-0, 6-1, in the girls’ 16-under semifinals and was just as dominating in her 6-2, 6-1 victory over Patricia Nicole Paez in the 18-under class.

Iglupas next faces Maia Balce, who routed Percian Rivera, 6-1, 6-0, for the 18-under title. In the 16-under, Iglupas will battle the winner between Chloe Saraza and Erika Manduriao.

Olivarez shut out John Bryan de Casa, 6-0, 6-0, to reach the boys’ 16-under final against the winner between second seed Jerome Romualdez and Emmanuel Vacalares Jr.
