GARVO Lanete took charge anew as NLEX regained its dangerous form in an 89-70 rout of Jumbo Plastic yesterday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Lanete scattered 27 points just two days after firing 24 in a come-from-behind win over Wangs Basketball as the former champion Road Warriors posted their sixth win in seven outings.
“I challenged the boys in practice because the way we played against Wangs was not the way we should be playing,” said NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez
In other games, Hog’s Breath Cafe snapped its nightmarish skid with an 87-80 triumph against National U-Banco de Oro, while Jericho Cruz drilled 25 points to lift Blackwater Sports to a 102-81 blasting of Arellano-Air21.
Philip Paniamogan paced the attack with 15 points in the game where the Razorbacks pulled away by as many as 23 points, 69-46.
“We’re just happy we’re able to stop the losing streak,” coach Caloy Garcia said of his Razorbacks, who had an incredible 7-0 start, then surprisingly dropped three straight games by a whopping average of 21.3 points.
