Adamson for 40th softball win; UST, FEU shoot for wins in volleyball

MANILA, Philippines–Adamson, vies for a first-round softball sweep as University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University try to arrest their women’s volleyball slide in a busy UAAP schedule on various fronts Saturday.

The Lady Falcons hope to stretch their four-year winning streak to 40 games when they tangle with the Ateneo Lady Eagles at 8 a.m. at Rizal Memorial ballpark.

UST (4-1) shoots for a fourth straight win against University of the Philippines (2-3) at 12 noon, after NU (4-2) tries to stop a two-game skid against UE (2-3) at 10 a.m. in the other softball games.

FEU (2-3) and UST (2-4) try to end their string of volleyball losses at 4 p.m. at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

A blockbuster duel is expected tomorrow when defending champion La Salle (5-0) puts its perfect run at stake against Ateneo (5-1) in a rematch of last year’s volleyball finals at 4 p.m. at Mall of Asia Arena.

Lawn tennis, chess and junior football also get going today along with the second round of high school volleyball.

National U (men) and La Salle (women) will defend their tennis titles starting at 10 a.m. today at Olivarez Sports Center in Parañaque while chess starts at Enrique Razon Center at La Salle.
