MANILA, Philippines — The grand finals of the National Inter-School Golf Championships will be held Jan. 13 to 14 at the Player course of Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmarinas, Cavite, with 120 players from 25 schools competing.
The field is made up of the top finishers in the first stage comprised of the best-three-out-of-five-rounds series in Metro Manila and the 36-hole events in Visayas and Mindanao that was staged last year by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines.
Returning are the teams from Academy for International Education (AIE), Assumption College Dasmarinas, Ateneo De Manila University, Bukidnon Faith Christian School, Cebu International School, Centre for International Education, College of St. Benilde, Colegio San Agustin, De La Salle University Taft, De La Salle Zobel, Elizabeth Seton School, Immaculate Conception Academy, La Salle Green Hills, Learning Links School, Laurel Spring School, Living Heritage Academy, Miriam College, Oro Christian Grace School (Cagayan), OB Montessori Green Hills, St. Paul’s College Pasig, Singapore School Cebu, The Masters Academy, University of San Carlos and Xavier University.
International Container Terminal Services, Inc. is the main sponsor of the event which also has the Philippine Golf Foundation, PanCake House Group of Companies, Teriyaki Boy, Sizzlin Pepper, K Servico, EMCOR, Inquirer Golf, The Orchard Golf and Country Club, PacSports and Golf Depot as other sponsors.
Asian Youth Games gold medalist Miya Legaspi (St. Paul’s Pasig) and Junior World champions Pauline del Rosario (La Salle Zobel) and Bernice Olivarez-Ilas (La Salle Zobel) will again try to lead their respective teams to victory in the girls side. Favorites in the boys side include La Salle Greenhills and Ateneo.
