Adamson sustains hot UAAP softball win streak

MANILA, Philippines — Adamson sustained its amazing run in UAAP softball by crushing Ateneo, 10-0, Saturday to complete a first-round sweep of Season 76 at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

With Rizza Bernardino sparkling on the mound, the Lady Falcons needed four innings to put away the Lady Eagles, extending their winning streak to 40 games since Season 73.

Bernardino, the Season 74 Most Valuable Player, sparked the early outburst with a grand slam homerun in the first inning. She also pitched three innings.

The Lady Falcons flashed their fiery form early with nine runs in the first inning to take the fight out of the Lady Eagles.

In the other matches, National U survived University of the East, 8-7, while University of Santo Tomas dumped University of the Philippines, 9-3, for its fifth win in six outings.

The Lady Bulldogs’ victory ended a two-game slide for NU, which finished the first round with a 4-2 record.

The Tigresses ended up in solo second at the end of the first round, while UP and UE share fourth with identical 2-4 records.

 

Volleyball

Over at Filoil Flying V Arena, Far Eastern University stopped University of Santo Tomas, 15-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-22, to regain halt a two game slide in womens volleyball. University of the Philippines prevailed over University of the East, 25-8, 25-18, 25-16 for its first victory in six games.

Action shifts to Mall of Asia Sunday with  defending champion La Salle putting its five game winning run on the line against Ateneo at 4 p.m. after National U clashes with Adamson.
