UAAP: La Salle overwhelms Ateneo, rolls to 8-0 in women’s volley
MANILA, Philippines — De La Salle rolled anew as rival Ateneo, like any other team it faced during its first round sweep, never stood a chance.
Abi Maraño scored 10 points as the Lady Spikers cruised to a 25-14, 25-14, 25-19 win over the Lady Eagles to extend their unbeaten streak in the UAAP Season 76 women’s volleyball tournament Sunday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
“Abi Maraño went through a tough process before becoming what she is now. Her seniors also helped her develop,” said DLSU head coach Ramil de Jesus in Filipino, after moving just a win shy of notching his 200th win as coach in the UAAP. “I’m just happy of what she is able to get.”

La Salle, which has yet to drop a single set through eight games, pounced on Ateneo’s poor reception similar to what happened to their first round encounter.
“That’s also what happened the last time. We just made full use of our advantages,” said de Jesus.

The Lady Falcons, who bounced back from a heartbreaking five-set defeat to Far Eastern University, joined the Lady Tamaraws in fourth place with identical 4-4 marks.
“We didn’t commit many unforced errors and we had a good first ball. Our coverage was also solid,” said Adamson coach Sherwin Meneses.
Alyssa Valdez, the other recipient of the PSA recognition, also had 10 points for the Lady Eagles, who remained in third place with a 5-3 card.
